( I mean, it mentions beer, among other things )
That's the ur-autoharpist for me, there - my earliest memories of the instrument. I actually like the Sesame Street version better than the album version - there's too much banjo on the album.
In other autoharp news,
cheshirebast and I (mostly Cheshirebast) have managed to install the pickup on the old eBay autoharp, restring it, and tune it, although I need to tune it again - the new strings are still stretching. The next steps are to (a) cut the felts on the bars for the 12 power chords, and (b) figure out what the last two bars are going to be for (one of the remaining three is going to be a stop bar). Cheshirebast has suggested "that chord that only occurs in Purple Haze and Foxy Lady," but I'm not sure that would sound okay on an autoharp. I also need to decide what order, chromatic or circle-of-fifths, I want to arrange the power chords in.
I still can't quite believe we're building a punk autoharp. When we had the strings off, we were joking about painting it with a Hello Kitty skull or something similar, and I suggested writing "this machine kills teabaggers" on it. Cheshirebast didn't know what I was talking about. *sigh* I'm not even the folkie!
