It's the DW version of the Ao3 Stats Meme again!

Top 5 Stories By Hits:
Not For Sale (Firefly, Mal/Simon, Porn Battle IX): 7416
Programs and Users Have a Common Descent (Tron x Eureka, gen, Sci-Fi Fantasy Big Bang 2011): 3919
Bar the Door (Firefly, Jayne/Simon): 2618
Visions of Futures Passed (Star Trek (2009 movie), Bones/Spock Prime, Porn Battle IX): 2478
Spun Right Round (Eureka x Buckaroo Banzai, gen, Sci-Fi Fantasy Big Bang 2009): 2283

The next story is another Mal/Simon fic; nothing else has over 2000.

Top 5 Stories By Kudos:
Not For Sale (Firefly, Mal/Simon, Porn Battle IX): 306
Endless Beat (Singin' In The Rain, Cosmo/Don/Kathy, Springkink 2010): 176
Grist For the Rumor Mill (Singin' In The Rain, Cosmo/Don): 171
Visions of Futures Passed (Star Trek (2009 movie), Bones/Spock Prime, Porn Battle IX): 142
Good Vibes (Ghostbusters (1984 movie), Egon/Ray, SmallFandomFest Round 5): 127

Two repeats - not surprising, given that higher views mean more potential for kudos. Shoutout to the SitR fandom; there aren't a lot of fics, even fewer that aren't AU, and they are appreciative of the ones they get.

Top 5 Stories By Bookmarks:
Not For Sale (Firefly, Mal/Simon, Porn Battle IX): 31
Endless Beat (Singin' In The Rain, Cosmo/Don/Kathy, Springkink 2010): 27
Falling Into Grace (Transformers, pre-Optimus Prime/Starscream, Springkink 2010): 20
Visions of Futures Passed (Star Trek (2009 movie), Bones/Spock Prime, Porn Battle IX): 15 (tie)
Leaking the Secrets (Ghostbusters (1984 movie), Egon/Peter, Rounds of Kink Round 12): 15 (tie)

Oh, hey, my lone Transformers fic, good to see you here. Otherwise, three repeats and another GB entry.

What almost all of these have in common is that they're old - all but one of these are from 2008-2010, and the exception is 2011. So they've had more time to build up hit counts and everything else that comes with them. Several of these are from larger fandoms (Firefly & Trek, in particular) than I normally write for. I'm a little surprised that the entries for what is still by a nontrivial margin my largest writing fandom are both GB rather than RGB, but I suppose any RGB fics with an M or higher rating are potential childhood-ruiners.

I haven't uploaded anything yet this year. I should try and fix that.

I've made a list of 15 characters. You give me a prompt of the sort "1 and 5 go into a bar, who drinks whom under the table and why is 9 the one getting called for bail?" I will respond with a snippet of ficcet.

Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

She gave me:

Ghostbusters
Back to the Future
Writing
Jack Harkness
Dragons
Star Trek
Mythology

Let me know if you want to play!

A fanfic meme, ganked from [livejournal.com profile] calliopes_pen:

I was thinking you should tell me about stories you think I should write. I mean, if you could sit me down for a day or whatever and say, "I want you to write this story for me," what would that story be?

I'm not actually promising to *write* any of these, mind you, but it's fun anyway. And who knows if I'll be inspired!

Hey, I need something to keep me occupied over Spring Break . . .

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] calliopes_pen gave me Ghostbusters, Eureka, & Doctor Who.

What a long-strange trip it's been . . . )

From several people on my flist:

Pick up the nearest book to you. Turn to page 45. The first sentence describes your sex life in 2012.

"These boats were actually used when the statues of the gods made ritual journeys to visit each other at festival times (see journeys and processions of the gods)." - Gods, Demons, and Symbols of Ancient Mesopotamia, Jeremy Black & Anthony Green

Given that the previous sentence refers to the beds of the gods, I think this is auspicious somehow. The other closest book was a cheat:

"We are constantly learning and teaching about ethical intimacy: how to find our own boundaries, how to respect the boundaries of others." - Radical Ecstacy, Dossie Easton & Janet W. Hardy

But using a book that's actually about sex seems unfair to the spirit of the thing.

A meme lifted from [livejournal.com profile] fiona_conn:

Your job is now your Time Lord name. The last digit of your phone number is the current regeneration you are in. The nearest clothing item to your right is now the most notable item in your current wardrobe. The last person you texted is your current companion. Your favourite word is now your catchphrase.

Ah. That would make me The Teacher.

Hmm. Home or mobile phone? Let's go with the latter; I'm the third Teacher.

There's a pile of clothing on top of my incense cabinet (don't worry about why). The two physically closest items are a green-and-black sarong in a Celtic knot print and a pair of thigh-high socks, horizontally striped in black and rainbow tie-dye. Either of these would be a proper signature piece. (The next item in the pile is a salt-dyed white-and-cerulean silk scarf with sparkly acrylic bead fringe on the ends. It and the socks would clash nicely.)

My companion is the Spouse. Can I have two? The next one would be [livejournal.com profile] cheshirebast.

My favorite word is "entelechy," but that's not a very good catchphrase, is it? Let's go with "Moving on, then."

This time it's from [livejournal.com profile] solidfoamsoul:

Step 1. Put your iTunes on random.
Step 2. Post the first line or two from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly. NO GOOGLING.

A couple of modications to fit my music collection and make this more fun:

A) I'm skipping any tunes with no lyrics.
B) I'm also skipping songs that have a play count of 0, since it's unlikely that I know the lyrics yet.
C) If a song starts with the chorus, I'm posting the first line of the actual first verse.
D) I have a *lot* of covers. If the same song comes up more than once, I'm skipping it, and I'll take *any* artist who legit did the song as a correct answer no matter which cover was actually played.
E) I'm screening replies, so multiple people can guess the same song and it's not a speed trial; we'll score by total points. I'll post results after about 24 hours.

In case anyone wanted to know the seed, I'm starting with Holst's "Mars" and hitting shuffle.
