Okay, back in the saddle. Let's practice, shall we? I forget where I stole this from.

Give me:

1) A Fandom,
2) A Character or Pairing,
[ed.: or a trio; use / if you want sex/romance and & if you don't]
3) A Location, and
4) A Plot Element.

For example, "Supernatural, Dean/Castiel, a ranch, nightmares." In return, you'll get a ficlet or a snippet of the story!

I reserve the right to reject prompts for fandoms I'm not familiar with; check the tag list for my fic journal if you want suggestions.

The ol' brain is not in a writing mood. I have a lot of jumbled ideas and not much in the way of plot coming around. Part of it is just Beltane ;-), but I think part of it is stress and thinking about it too much. (And I might be a wee bit depressed about having had to drop [livejournal.com profile] au_bigbang.)

Thus, a ficmeme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] zortified:

Tell me about a story I never wrote, (eg, "The one where Ianto is a werewolf and Jack tries to explain they don't really exist until Ianto bites him.") and I'll write you a snippet from it.

Snippets will be 100-500 words.

Pick a fandom I've written in before, and tell me if you prefer a gen, het, or slashy snippet. Or if you care.

Yeah, so I signed up for the Yuletide fic exchange. Never done this before; should be interesting.

In other news, this is a freaking awesome song and absolutely begs for songfic, but no one outside of Texas would recognize the song.

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] bearit. Yeah, I'm writing about writing instead of, you know, actually writing. *sigh* Sorry, brain is still a little fried from the week.

Hmm . . .

1) The Middleman
2) Eureka
3) Real Ghostbusters
4) Doctor Who
5) Firefly

(yes, I know it's all genre, shut up)

I have too many windows open in TextEdit, and not enough fandoms. I need some inspiration for something that's not one of my two fandom primaries right now. I mean, I love them both, and we've been awesome together, but I'm in a bit of a rut here.

Anyway, stealing a meme (again from [livejournal.com profile] scarfman) and further modifying it:

Have any passages from books or movies influenced you so strongly that you feel the influence shows in more than one of your stories?

No, but I have a bad habit of including quotes from one canon in stories set in another one. Sometimes they're set off as actual quotes - that's pretty easy to pull off in Eureka fic, for instance. And sometimes they aren't.

Is "hissy," or the long form "had a hissy fit," a regionalism? I don't have a problem putting it in Leonard McCoy's mouth, and I know better than to put it in Ianto Jones's, but would Kirk say it? Peter Venkman? Sheriff Jack Carter? Captain Jack Harkness? Douglas Fargo? Perfect Tommy? Elwood Blues?

My intuition is (starting with Kirk) no, yes, maybe if he was being ironic, maybe if he was being quaint, depends on where he went to grad school, no but he'd understand it if someone else used it, no. That implies that I think it's an East Coast/Southern regionalism and not used in the middle states, but possibly in southern California by transplants. I'm not sure that's right, though.

Arrgh, why is a Fargo!fic with no smut in it at all being so very difficult to write? I have a rough draft, finally, and now I'm going to let it sit so I can re-read, tear my hair out some more, and try to fix it tomorrow.

*sigh* I can't blame the Boys in Grey, really, although part of the reason is that I'm trying to write the next story for [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest already, and it'll be one of theirs, so my attention is sort of split. By the end of the fest, if not the month, I'm going to have written all of the GB/RGB prompts that I didn't submit, and possibly (if I exhaust everyone else's and still have time left) one or two of my own, since that's allowed.

But I refuse to be fandom-monogamous, even for them. I'm going to write Eureka prompts, too, and there are a number of other fandoms that I'm finding tempting. There's too much out there to write to restrict myself to one fandom, even though I know that's what a lot of people actually do.

I also joined [livejournal.com profile] monthlymeme, just in case I got bored/wanted to try shorter fic, since Smallfandomfest has a much larger word minimum.
